New ocean giant of MV dockyard – Messer is also aboard

Wismar, Germany. - The first cut of our flame cutting machine heralded the start of a new large-scale project at the historical MV dockyard.

Work on a new global class cruise ship with a length of 342 metres and capable of accommodating over 5,000 passengers has been ongoing at the Wismar site, amongst others, since March 2018.
These figures make it the largest passenger ship built in Germany to date – and simultaneously the most technologically advanced: For example, the ocean giant will use artificial intelligence for the purpose of face and speech recognition.
A total of eight machines supplied by Messer Cutting Systems – including new and refurbished units – are in operation at the production sites in Wismar, Stralsund and Warnemünde. The first cruise ship is scheduled for completion at the end of 2020.
